ABOUT THE NODA GP

THE NODA GRAND PRIX. APRIL 14, 2013. A full day of racing in historic North Charlotte wrapped in an outdoor festival complete with food and live music. The events last into the evening, culminating in an epic twilight professional race through the bar and restaurant-lined streets of NoDa.

WHERE:

The heart of North Charlotte, NoDa is now the home to Charlotte’s best collection of shops, galleries and performance venues; some of the funkiest full service restaurants include a creative craft beer eatery, Southwest cuisine, a fixed gear boutique, a tart yogurt stand, a neighborhood wine bistro and more. Check out Gallery Crawl and the burgeoning All Arts Market twice a month to experience NoDa’s unique street scene. Soho’s little sister is located in North Charlotte’s historic mill village 2.5 miles from Uptown on North Davidson Street at 36th.

WHEN:

The races start at 830a, with the Juniors, and run all day long through the streets of North Charlotte with the Pro Men ending at 7p. The course runs along N. Davidson, 34th, Yadkin, 32nd, Alexander and 36th.

WHY:

The Southeast, like much of the country, has developed a fascination for cycling for both participants and spectators alike. After seeing Dilworth and Uptown host bike racing successfully for years, we thought we could do the same while showcasing our amazing neighborhood. We want to capitalize on the same energy that NoDa residents and businesses put into the Thunder Road Marathon and the Halloween Freaky 5k. The NoDa GP is being organized, produced and promoted by NoDaresidents and cyclists and benefits Global H2O, and Trips For Kids Charlotte. The Noda GP wants to come down and enjoy some bike racing in our great neighborhood. If you live on the course it’s a great time to have a front yard cookout with your other neighbors. Have a few drinks and cheer on the racers as they fly past. Many of Noda’s local businesses will be having drink/food specials as well. The NoDa N’hood Association, CMPD, CDOT, and Charlotte Fire Dept have all been a huge help in this endeavor, and we extend our thanks to all of them!
